Witch Hunter Robin

witchhunterrobin.jpg

Another interesting anime. Robin hunts "witches" for the STMJ, and the story chronicles Robin's life upon arriving in Japan and her developing relationship with her unusual co-workers.

I received the first DVD of "Witch Hunter Robin" as a birthday gift, and I enjoyed it very much. It's a bit like an anime version of the X-files. Brian says the characters are developing too slowly for his taste, but I kind of enjoy the slow unfolding of their personalities.
There are lots of different characters, some likeable, some not so likeable. Robin tries to fit in with her new co-workers as best she can. Robin seems to be a decent soul, and I find myself hoping she will find her place in the universe.

Wonderful World of Creation

babies.jpg

Well, here are a bunch of "bundles of joy," hopefully to remind me what the point of all this discomfort really is...

I can honestly say that I have never felt as sick as I have these past two months. Unfortunately, my morning sickness does not confine itself to mornings, it should be called "morning, noon, afternoon, evening and night sickness." I am queasy all the time, and find it difficult to eat anything. I also have trouble keeping it down once I do eat it!
I have gotten sick at all times of the day or night, sometimes waking Brian up in the middle of a sound sleep. At least he gets to sometimes sleep soundly!
It's also difficult for me to sleep at night, as I am so queasy that I can't get comfortable. Stomach acid seems to want to creep up into my throat all night, so I have to elevate my head and shoulders.
The best times for me to sleep appear to be between 7 and 10 a.m., which means I'm missing a lot of work.
Even the smallest tasks cause great fatigue, and driving an hour just about does me in.
Fortunately, Danielle accompanied me to the store to find some maternity clothes so that when the time comes that I start gaining weight (kind of difficult currently since I can't eat much!) I will be prepared! Thanks, Danielle!
Brian has been very helpful and has been feeding the dogs and taking them out every morning. Normally, that's my job because they are my dogs! I have tried to explain to the dogs that I am not feeling well, but they don't really understand. Sigh.
I'm told that this stage will pass, and that the next trimester will be much easier. Hopefully, I'll be the typical "glowing" pregnant woman by then!

Dinah's Model Horse Collection

dinahcollector.jpg

Here is Dinah, a Dawn doll, with her collection of horse figurines.

Kathleen sent this photo to cheer me up! She knows that I love model horses and Dawn dolls. A few years ago, Kathleen sent two of her Dawn dolls to live at my house. They have a whole bunch of friends, here, but they visited Dinah this year at Breyerfest.
Dinah's collection consists of those ultra-cute and sadly discontinued Winner's Choice Micro Minis by Candace Liddy. They were available at stores like Target for about $2-$3 per set! Kathleen and I both love collecting those!
One year at Breyerfest we were lucky to find Candace selling prototypes of her traditional-sized toy horse line, Winner's Choice Gold Standard models. They had changeable manes and tails. Kathleen bought a couple of them, and I bought one, a quarter horse in a sliding stop by the name of Jacoty.
Unfortunately, Candace had problems with the toy line, and eventually stopped producing them. However, you can still find them occasionally on eBay or at Breyerfest. The Micro Minis are usually reasonably priced, so they are affordable if you're on a budget (who isn't???)

"Real Deal"

realdeal.jpg

One of Kathleen's show horses.

I hope everyone will be patient with me as I am experiencing "technical difficulties" right now. I am told that these difficulties are normal for what I'm going through, and that it will get a whole lot better in another couple of months or so.
For anyone who doesn't already know, Brian and I are expecting our first child. This first trimester is a real challenge for me, I am sick almost all the time. I will try to update the wasmiverse as often as possible in between bouts of sickness!

Wendy's Foal

wendysfoal.jpg

This Peter Stone weanling was made for the Stone Horses Country Fair weekend a couple of years ago.

Unfortunately, the main special run offering for the Stone Country Fair that year was an ISH mare painted in a loud semi-leopard appaloosa. It was painted to resemble a real mare by the name of Wendy. Wendy was with foal, and the Stone Company promised a special run of the foal on their brand new weanling mold would be available. They didn't know what color the foal would be until Wendy gave birth right before the Country Fair.
The Country Fair was in Indiana, a few hours from my hometown. I would be able to go, but not spend the whole weekend. My work schedule was too hectic, and no one was available to take care of the dogs. I decided to go to the Country Fair, but to forego the very expensive ticket price, which included the Wendy ISH, and the opportunity to purchase a replica of her foal when it was produced. You could only purchase the foal if you had purchased the expensive "Wendy" model and ticket.
I figured that I had a few ISHs already, and that the foal probably wouldn't be a really nice color, anyway. I went to the Country Fair for a few hours, enjoyed the crafts on display and the gift stores and the model horse vendors, and watched the local Amish people drive around in their horse-drawn buggies. I also enjoyed the bakery and the quilting shops, and the large general store where the Amish people bought their old-fashioned cookware and hardware supplies, as well as clothing and household goods.
Then I saw the display where the live version of Wendy stood, along with her very young, adorable, grulla foal.
Grulla is one of my favorite colors, and I was so disappointed to not be able to purchase one, since I didn't have the Wendy ticket. I thought that maybe someday, I would find one for sale somewhere. I advertised in a model horse online sales group, but nobody had one that was reasonably priced.
Finally, on eBay, I found a Wendy's Foal! And at a reasonable price! She arrived over the weekend, well-packaged in her shipping box. Brian was my hero who rescued her from the post office for me, and then he even had to open the box because I was so ill at the time the box arrived (the flu, yuck!) He placed Wendy's Foal on top of my dresser, where I could see how cute she was even through I felt so sick.
I am glad that Wendy's Foal finally has arrived at my stable!

Get Well Soon, Master Obi-Wan!

droids.jpg

The wasmiverse is hoping that Master Obi-Wan suffers no lasting ill effects from his recent battle with the Evil Empire!

Amidala and Obi-Wan fought bravely, but in the end the stormtroopers had them surrounded. Their two droids circled around helplessly as the enemy moved in closer.
"I have you now!" cried Darth Vader, brandishing his light saber threateningly. "Now my victory is complete!" It looked like they were doomed.
Amidala didn't like the sound of Vader's evil plan. Even as Vader advanced, she pulled out a com-link and tried to reach the Rebel Base. "Send reinforcements!" she screamed, as Obi-Wan fought valiantly with his attacker.
The droids dodged laser blasts and and fought to stay out of harm's way. Obi-Wan had the Force on his side. Until he tripped over one of the droids...Ouch!
Just then, the reinforcements that Amidala had called upon appeared out of the sky. They dropped down upon Darth Vader, crushing him and scattering the stormtroopers to the four winds. They were all bad shots, anyway.
Amidala and Obi-Wan and the droids were now all safe and sound! They went home and had some hot tea and chicken soup and lived happily ever after.
The End

Sleepy Hollow Film Set

sleepyhollowset.jpg

Even though Halloween has passed, this photo of the Sleepy Hollow film set is so beautiful that I must share it with everybody.

I hope that everybody had a safe, fun and happy Halloween. We celebrated Samhain a few days before the actual holiday with a large gathering of folk. We held a worship service (called a ritual) to honor our ancestors. This is the time of year to remember all those friends and family who have passed to Spirit. Then we all shared a potluck supper and enjoyed the company of our friends and family here on earth!
On Halloween, we dressed up in our Ren Fest costumes and handed out candy to the neighborhood kids. It's always fun to see the cute costumes (one especially cute three-year-old Batman comes to mind.) Brian always makes the kids say, "Trick or Treat!" before he gives them the candy, but I'm not quite so strict with the shy ones!

Halloween Jack o' Lanterns

pumpkins.jpg

This was the wasmiverse's creative output for this Halloween!

Amidala's pumpkin is on the left, Obi-Wan's is in the center, and my rather pathetic attempt is on the right. (I wasn't feeling well, and I started carving the pumpkin at around 5 p.m. on Halloween!)
These three Jack o' Lanterns were then carted downtown in a wagon by Coragus the Bold and Master Obi-Wan so that they could take part in our hometown's attempt at having the most lighted Jack o' Lanterns in one spot. Although they only received 600 carved pumpkins instead of the 29,000 that they needed, it was still fun to take part in what will surely become a yearly event. (Brought to you by the same local citizens who incited pandemonium with their Harry Potter night! Visit them at www.ariabooksellers.com)
The window lights in between our pumpkins in the photo are a result of the fact that there is a really unattractive house built literally in our backyard. In the early 1990's, a builder bought our Victorian house and subdivided the land so that they could construct a new home in what had been our house's large backyard. Unfortunately, this put the Victorian carriage house on the newly-subdivided piece of property, along with the ugly new house. We now have a fence running down the backyard, dividing the properties, but the ugly house still looms in the background whenever we venture outdoors.
Thanks to Ryan and Danielle for the photo of our Jack o' Lanterns!
