Thanksgiving Day

thanksgiving.jpg

Here is a photo of Amy, Don, baby Derek and Aunt Nancy at Thanksgiving.

The photo was taken with Don's mobile phone. That's why it's kind of grainy.
We had a good time at the dinner, which was hosted by Aunt Nancy and Uncle John. Most of our cousins were there, and baby Derek was a big hit.
It was very nice to see everybody and to catch up on what is going on in everybody's lives.
Cousin Myke and his wife Judy and their kids came all the way from Virginia to visit! We hardly ever see them, so it was really nice. I hadn't seen Laurel since she was a tiny baby, and she is five years old, now!
I hope time doesn't go that fast while Derek is growing up.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Well, today is the day of the family feast, where we all get together and dine on turkey, gravy and mashed potatoes! I'd have a photo for you all, but it turns out that the software for my old digital camera isn't compatible with Windows XP, which means it won't work on my laptop. Darn! I can't install it on my old computer until I get the CD-rom drive fixed. Oh, well.
The digital camera takes really bad photos, anyway!
Derek is all dressed up in his adorable sweater. He has two teeth starting to come in. He's beginning to crawl around pretty well, too.
We had a humongous snowfall last night. Brian had to get out the snowblower so that we will be able to visit Aunt Nancy and Uncle John for Thanksgiving dinner. Don and Amy will be there, as well as our cousins!
This is Derek's first Thanksgiving. One of the things I am most thankful for is our adorable, happy, healthy baby!

A Pirate's Life for Me

This is the dread pirate Xander! Arrrr!

This little guy is the son of our friends, Jennifer and Don. He dressed as a pirate this Halloween, and I thought it was so cute that I had to post it here.

The new Steady Eddy's opens in California!

edmunddiane.jpg

My friends, Diane and Edmund, have opened Steady Eddy's Coffeeshop in their local California town. It's a long way from Flint!!!

Diane and Edmund lived in the house directly behind mine in Flint. They owned Steady Eddy's cafe, which was located in the Farmer's Market in Flint. They were very good friends-in fact, it was entirely due to them that I was able to purchase my house. They let me know before it actually came on the market that it was going to be for sale, so I was able to be the first one to see it when it came on the market.
Diane always had a beautiful garden! They spent many hours creating and maintaining their house and garden. They even created a small pond for their goldfish.
It was a sad day for me when Diane and Edmund announced that they were selling their house and moving to California. I missed them very much.
I didn't know then that in a few years, I'd be moving, as well!
They recently emailed a link to some photos of the new Steady Eddy's! Congratulations to Edmund and Diane!!

Ancient Rescue Julips

julipriders.jpg

These rescued Julips recently arrived at my stable!

The horses have quite hardened, and their legs can no longer bend at all. Their paint is flaking and cracking off. Their tack is deteriorating, and the girth straps are all broken! Their manes and tails have had drastic haircuts! In short, only a mother could love these Julips!
Fortunately, Tugboat (the piebald) and Nightwatch (the black one) have a great retirement home with me! Their riders are relived. They have been caring for their horsies for a long time, and hoping that they would find a new place to live where the grass is green, the hay and grain are plentiful, and the work load light.
They have found Julip sanctuary here!!!
There is only one other stable to which I would ever send them, but only if they decide that they miss England too much!!
