The News
Brian's New Job, Derek and Mommy's Outdoor Adventure, etc.
Did I mention that Brian has a new job? Exactly one month after he was laid off, he got a new job as a transportation planner for a county road commission. He really enjoys it. We are relieved, and Brian is very happy. He got a raise, too!
Derek has been playing outside these days. Grandma and Grandpa bought him a sandbox for his birthday. After we had positioned it in our yard and loaded it up with six fifty-pound bags of sand, I discovered two things. One, that it is positioned right underneath the tree with the giant beehive in it...and, two, the same tree hosts a number of birds, who relieve themselves frequently. (Fortunately, the sandbox has a cover for when not in use!)
You can imagine the sort of outdoor adventures we have been having! Let's just say that bird poodoo figures prominently, and I have a lot more laundry to do now...

Derek's Music Class
Here is Derek (and myself) at his music class!
At the urging of Nancy (my sister,) I enrolled Derek in an early development class that introduces babies to music and rhythm. The first session he attended, he was quite overwhelmed by the activity and the crowd. However, we went again tonight, and it was a much smaller class. Derek enjoyed it very much.
By the way, Derek started walking on the 4th of July! We are so proud of him!!
